DHS Enforcement Committee:
The National Immigration Forum and the Chicago Bar Foundation co-chair the DHS Enforcement Committee. The committee engages in national administrative advocacy with DHS immigration enforcement agencies, specifically ICE and CBP. The committee focuses on all issues where ICE and/or CBP have jurisdiction and only raises issues which advocates have already attempted to first resolve on the local level. The committee meets regularly with principals in these organizations in Washington, DC to discuss and attempt to resolve issues of concerns to advocates. Among the issues on which the Enforcement Committee conducts administrative advocacy with CBP and ICE are implementation of detention standards, transfers; unaccompanied minor issues/ORR relations with ICE, SIJS issues, asylum/parole issues, alternatives to detention/ISAP/parole, detention statistics, and indefinite detention issues.
