Calculating Organizational Dues

Organizational member dues are 0.2% of your organization’s “Enforcement, Detention, Deportation program” budget (0.002 x Organization’s Program Budget).

The organization’s overall budget should be used in determining dues if its core mission involves immigration enforcement, detention, and deportation (EDD) issues. In organizations/firms where only one or a few of its programs/functions/offices are involved in EDD work, use the aggregate budget for the program(s) in determining dues.

For example:

  • A program of a multi-program organization should be “counted” if: (a) immigrants affected by EDD are among the top three categories of people served by the project; (b) two or more of the program’s staff will participate on the DWN listserv or attend DWN meetings; (c) the program’s principal work goals for the coming year will be substantially assisted by DWN’s work.
  • If you represent a law firm, you can estimate dues as 0.2% of total removal defense cases.

Is there a minimum and/or cap for organizational dues? Yes, organizational dues start at $100 (for example if your program budget is less than $50,000, your dues would be $100), and there is a cap of no more than $2,500.

Please include the Program Budget (estimates ok). This information is necessary in order to evaluate organizational dues.
